It might seem daunting to start a brand, it (like most things worth while) mainly requires time and a little bit of knowledge.
Firstly, why are you starting a brand? Is it to create products that can’t be found on the current market? It’s important to define the “mission” of the company, as that will help you position products and services in a way that is coherent across products and services.
Here you might think that having a noble cause like “saving the world” is the way to go, but what is more important than that is to be authentic. It’s okay to want to “just make cool stuff”, and being upfront about that will bring you more loyalty than trying to package it into something else.
Think of (insert brand story here)
Secondly, you want to figure out how you’d like people to perceive the company from outside. What do you want them to associate the brand with? It could range from professional to accessible, luxury to affordable. If you don’t know where to start then I’d recommend thinking of the kind of person you imagine using the products, and work backwards from there. Are they tech savvy? wealthy? old?
The more defined image of your user, the easier it will be to define what you need to focus on for your brand. A bonus is that you’ll also better know how to reach your target audience.
Lastly, what are you planning to do? What are the products or services will you offer? Here knowing your target audience will help you which to prioritise and help you evaluate if you’re staying “on brand” or not.
For instance it might seem like a far stretch if a company that typically makes beverages to start making e-sports equipment, but most people would probably understand .
